The head of Innovation Park at Notre Dame says the school is becoming more engaged with economic development, which is fueling growth at the accelerator. Among the park's more than 30 clients is F Cubed LLC, which says it has developed technology that can detect bacterium in drinking water in less than 30 minutes. Park Chief Executive Officer David Brenner and F Cubed Vice President Bob Williams talked to Inside INdiana Business Host Gerry Dick about the accelerator's growth.
Innovation Park aims to connect clients with resources from Notre Dame and a network of market experts. The 12-acre campus has 13 tenants and supports 30-35 clients. The park opened in 2009.
Brenner says the companies involved with the incubator range from startups to emerging technology, but says they "all have some kind of traction."
Williams says F Cubed's device could benefit the water and food industries. He says food producers, for example, often have to sit on millions of dollars of merchandise for days while bacteria tests are processed. In addition, he says the medical field could use the technology to test for infections more quickly.
