On the evening of Thursday, March 14th the Snite Museum opened its door exclusively for Robinson Community Learning Center students and their families.

Snite Curator of Education, Sarah Martin, organized this event so that families could spent time with each other learning about art. In preparation for this event, nine RCLC students (ranging in age from 10 to 16) trained as docents, and spent the week researching particular works of art and artists, and preparing presentations.

In addition to the watching the docent presentations, families could also participate in an art activity that allowed students and parents to create a postcard of a work of art they had seen at the Snite to take home as a souvenir of the event. Families were free to explore all of the galleries on their own, and refreshments were served as well. As first grade Ramone Cole said of the event: “It was great! I got to see art that looked like it was from the future!”
