Rev. John I. Jenkins, president of the University of Notre Dame, hosted his first President's Community Leaders Breakfast since 2019. The event traditionally takes place in the summer, but was not held the last three years due to the pandemic.
The breakfast offers community leaders an opportunity to network with more than 200 partners from a variety of settings including nonprofits, healthcare, churches, government, banking, real estate developers and schools. The President's Community Leaders Breakfast also offers a panel discussion with the University's president, provost and executive vice president who answer guest-submitted questions.
This year's panel discussion was titled "Building the Notre Dame of Tomorrow" and topics ranged from recent news that the University joined the Association of American Universities, how Notre Dame will continue to attract a diverse student body given the Supreme Court's recent decision on race-conscious admissions policies, what the fall opening of the Raclin Murphy Museum of Art will offer the South Bend-Elkhart community, and more. Joining Father Jenkins on stage were John McGreevy, the Charles and Jill Fischer Provost, and Shannon Cullinan, executive vice president. Tim Sexton, associate vice president for public affairs, served as the emcee.
Heather Christophersen, vice president for human resources, delivered the keynote address titled "Engage, Empower, Excel: Unleashing the Power of Employee-Centered HR Practices."
