The fourth annual CommUniversity Day, a day of shared service and celebration was held on Saturday, March 31. This year, students from Saint Mary's College, Holy Cross College, Indiana University - South Bend, Ivy Tech and the University of Notre Dame partnered together for community painting, clean-up and gardening.
Approximately 650 student volunteers in addition to many community members volunteered. Through working with the City of South Bend Public Works and Parks Departments, we cleaned up several parks and community gardens, repainted a crosswalk, painted several fire hydrants, and marked storm drains to discourage river pollution - 45 projects in total! Many neighborhood children enjoyed an afternoon of activities at the Irish Experience Kids Festival on our campus and the community all gathered for a picnic at the Robinson Community Learning Center.
