Our Work
The Office of Public Affairs administers off-campus offices at both the Robinson Community Learning Center and the Notre Dame Center for Civic Innovation as well as the Teachers as Scholars seminars.
Robinson Community Learning Center
The Robinson Community Learning Center is an off-campus educational initiative founded in 2001 in partnership with residents of South Bend’s Northeast Neighborhood. RCLC offers early childhood, youth, Shakespeare, and adult programming.
Teachers as Scholars
Teachers as Scholars, led by university faculty, provides content-based seminars for teachers on a variety of topics each semester in the areas of humanities and social sciences.
Local Government Relations
Our office represents the University of Notre Dame in the greater South Bend region, as well as the state of Indiana, enhancing our community’s vision, mission and priorities. As part of the University’s mission, our office strengthens Notre Dame’s relationships with key constituencies within local government, state government, and representatives of other colleges and universities.
Education
The university recognizes the great assets it can leverage to support our local K-12 education systems. By identifying school/university partners and facilitating mutually beneficial collaboration, Public Affairs supports faculty, staff and student engagement in local K-12 schools through partnerships that promote the arts, STEM, literacy, character development and more.
Northeast Neighborhood Revitalization
The Northeast Neighborhood Revitalization Organization fosters a safe, vital, cohesive community that preserves its assets and respects the needs of all there who reside, work and visit within its boundaries.
Northeast Neighborhood Revitalization
Local Non-Profits
The University of Notre Dame is committed to contributing to the quality of life in the local and global community in alignment with our values and academic mission. This commitment is demonstrated through volunteerism on the part of administrators, faculty, staff, and students and through the financial support and in-kind assistance provided to community and service organizations.
United Way Campaign
Notre Dame employees are generous. Fifteen percent of all United Way campaign dollars raised in St. Joseph County during the annual campaign comes from Notre Dame faculty and staff.
